Healthy Cocktail Recipes

When it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, many of us tend to avoid alcoholic drinks altogether. However, this doesn't have to be the case! By choosing the right ingredients and being mindful of portion sizes, you can still enjoy a delicious cocktail while keeping your health in mind.

Here are some Swygge tips and recipes for some healthy cocktails for you to try at home:

~ Avoid sugary mixers: Many traditional cocktail mixers like sodas, juice, and simple syrup are high in sugar and calories. Instead, opt for fresh fruit, herbs, and spices to add flavor to your drink. Try muddling fresh berries or using a splash of citrus juice to add sweetness without the added sugar. Alternatively, Agave nectar is a more mindful sweetner to try also.
~ Choose lighter alcoholic spirits: Some spirits are higher in calories than others. If you're looking to keep things on the lighter side, try using vodka, gin, or tequila as your base spirit. They tend to have fewer calories than whiskey or rum.
~ Mind your portions: A standard serving size for a cocktail is 40ml of alcohol. Keep this in mind when measuring out your drinks to avoid overdoing it.
~ Non-alcoholic or low ABV spirits: If you are still wanting a great tasting drink, but you are driving or avoiding alcohol completely, have a look at our blog on 'Swygge's Top 6 Low & No Brands' and swap the usual alcohol spirit out for one of these.
